Lee County Commissioners approve emergency use of Family Initiative property in Cape Coral
CAPE CORAL, Fla. (Feb. 4, 2025) – A portion of Family Initiative’s property in Cape Coral will now be available for use by Lee County during times of natural disasters, thanks to a recent decision by the Lee County Board of Commissioners.
The Board approved an agreement allowing the county to use Thrive Academy and other nearby lots along Chiquita Boulevard South for emergency response operations.
According to the county, the site will serve as a distribution center, storage for emergency response equipment and fulfill other disaster-related needs as they arise.
In a gesture of support, Family Initiative has agreed to provide the property free of charge to the county.

“We are grateful to enter into this agreement with our wonderful partners in Lee County Government. Family Initiative is committed to being a resource to our region in both blue skies and gray,” said David Brown, president and co-founder at Family Initiative.
