Family Initiative hires Rachel Fecteau as community engagement specialist
CAPE CORAL, Fla. (August 18, 2022) – Rachel Fecteau has joined Family Initiative, Inc. as the community engagement specialist working alongside co-founders David Brown and Anjali Van Drie to promote compassionate care and support to children and families living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through community awareness and outreach.
In this role, Fecteau will oversee community education and outreach in order to raise awareness of Family Initiative’s programs, manage the nonprofit organization’s volunteer efforts and work with regional and program leadership to advance community engagement.
Fecteau previously worked as a telecommunications specialist at the Conway Police Department in New Hampshire for over 16 years. In that capacity, she directed local community outreach programs, managed data entry for the New Hampshire State Police and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and prioritized emergency call response for police, fire and rescue agencies.
Her community involvement throughout the years have included work with the New Hampshire Special Olympics, volunteering for Project Succeed, the Child’s Advocacy Center, 96 Hours of Hunger and coaching for Girls on the Run from 2015-2018.
“With her background as a communications specialist and her years of nonprofit volunteer experience, Rachel is a natural advocate for families, children and individuals in need of support,” said Anjali Van Drie, MA, MSW, BCBA, co-founder and vice president of Family Initiative. “Her passion to serve and desire to give back makes her a perfect fit for our organization. We are thrilled for her to take on this role as Family Initiative continues to expand its reach and visibility in the community.”
Fecteau earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from New England College in New Hampshire.
