Family Initiative Hits a Home Run with Special Day at Lee Health Sports Complex

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 18, 2025) — Family Initiative had a blast on Sunday at the Lee Health Sports Complex, the spring training home of the Minnesota Twins, thanks to the generosity of the Lee County Government. We are incredibly grateful to Lee County for providing us access to their box suite, which made this special day possible. This unique opportunity allowed our families to experience a baseball game in a way they never had before—offering a comfortable, supportive and accessible environment tailored to their needs.

The box suite provided a quieter space, allowing families to enjoy the game without the overwhelming noise and crowds that can often cause sensory overload. For many of our families, this was a chance to connect with the excitement of the game while feeling safe and supported in a space designed to minimize stress.

This also allowed families to check out Family Initiative’s Sensory Room, a place where those with sensory sensitivity can escape the overwhelming elements of a baseball game.

Created in collaboration with the Minnesota Twins and Lee Health, the room features a variety of sensory-friendly adjustments, including soft lighting, quieter areas and toys designed to help regulate the nervous system. These accommodations aim to make the game-day experience more enjoyable for children and their families.

The room will be open for all 17 home spring training games in 2025 and is located on the third-base side of the main concourse at the stadium.
